This chrome nails tutorial came about after too many fights with nail foils. I love how chrome nails look, but I can never get the smooth perfect sheen I want using nail foils. Most chrome polishes are pretty much just metallic and shiny (the best I've found is Essie No Place Like Chrome) and not actually reflective. So I came up with the idea of just painting a chrome reflection onto my nails myself. I love how this looks and you're sure to get a few double takes from people trying to figure out what's happening on your hands!
In this tutorial I used American Apparel in African Violet, China Glaze in Spontaneous, Nailtini in Parfait Amour, Revlon Top Speed in Cloud, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On, Seche Vite Top Coat, and OPI Nail Envy base coat.
tips & tricks
- I used a thin striping brush to paint the lines.
- Don't stress too much about making your lines perfectly straight, you can always cover up any wiggles with the next color!
- I used different polishes for each stripe, but if you don't have enough shades just mix your dark purple with white polish. Add a little more white for each line and you're good to go!
- I used 6 different colors, so if you want to use more make sure you make the lines a little thinner.
